2. DIRECTORY LIMITATIONS & DATA HYGIENE
The data on this Website, including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) locations at facilities such as St. Alban’s School, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other District locations, is sourced from the DC Fire/EMS Open Data portal.
- Curated Dataset: To ensure the highest utility for users, we maintain a curated registry that focuses on records with validated geospatial coordinates (Latitude/Longitude).
- No Real-Time Guarantee: We do not guarantee the real-time availability, functional status, or accessibility of any medical equipment listed in our registry. Equipment listed may be under maintenance, moved, or restricted to authorized personnel.
- Maintenance Responsibility: Facility managers and owners are solely responsible for the maintenance and compliance of their devices under DC Code § 44-232.

5. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & PROHIBITED USE
The unique presentation of data, including processed “Safety Context” guides and “Bystander Guides,” is the intellectual property of AED Locator Map.
- Database Protection: Automated data mining, scraping, or harvesting of our approximately 1,950 processed D.C. location records for use in other registries, commercial databases, or AI training models is strictly prohibited without express written consent.
6. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia, United States. Use of an AED by laypeople in D.C. is generally protected under Good Samaritan laws (DC Code § 44-233), provided the user acts in good faith and without compensation.
